In October 2021, this project kicked off implementation, with the goal of mitigating impacts of COVID-19 on TB care and promoting progress towards sustainable HIV epidemic control by bridging current gaps in private sector engagement, and infusing a Clinical Business Intelligence (CBI) approach with the HIV program stakeholders.

This project aims to provide technical assistance to the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) teams at Provincial- and District-level HIV programs, to facilitate data-driven decision making, and to strengthen public and private health system linkages as part of the UCSF/US CDC Recency project.

This donation allowed us to procure an ultra-portable Fujifilm FDR Xair X-ray system with built-in artificial intelligence (AI) software for interpreting chest X-ray images. This equipment will enable the expansion of community-based tuberculosis (TB) screening campaigns into remote areas of Viet Nam.

ERASE TB

IRD VN was selected as the primary recipient of the USAID TB Local Organization Network (LON) funding for Viet Nam to improve access to TB care, strengthen the capacity of local organizations to engage in the TB response, and accelerate declines in TB incidence.

SWEEP-TB Expansion

Following the success of the initial SWEEP-TB project, a scale up grant was awarded to expand the strategy of community-based mobile chest X-ray screening campaigns to detect active and latent TB to five provinces throughout Viet Nam.

SWEEP-TB

The SWEEP-TB project organized 108 days of community-based mobile chest X-ray screening events in 155 unique locations. In total, it screened 32,528 people using chest X-ray, diagnosed TB in 202 participants and linked over 93% to appropriate TB treatment. The project also tested 4,782 participants for TB infection and linked 808 people to TB preventive treatment.

endTB
Start date: 01/08/2017

The endTB project was a multi-country study focused on evaluating shorter, less toxic and more effective treatments for drug-resistant TB led by Partners In Health. IRD VN collaborated with the NTP on an observational study monitoring the side effects and outcomes for drug-resistant TB patients treated with regimens containing delamanid and bedaquiline.
